  • My favorite memory is from my senior year of high school. We always went to my grandparents for Christmas Day and then had a family day after we got home. My parents and siblings went through a fairly complex routine to get me out of the house and into the car when leaving so that they could put a really special gift out for me to see upon our return. I still have the gift, and it is a warm memory, since all of them are now gone.

  • Just north of my hometown, a wealthy neighborhood goes NUTS with Xmas decorations and lights, so the entire community, including my husband and I, parked our cars and went around admiring the lights. We ooh-ed and aah-ed and wished we owned one of those homes.

  • My favorite memory from this past holiday season was driving up to my sister’s in Wisconsin with two of my daughters and their boyfriends. I was sad that my youngest girl couldn’t get off work (she moved to Florida recently and hasn’t been on the job long) so we didn’t get to see her this year.
