I pretty well have spilled out my whole life here at Sonya’s Happenings… I will tell you just about anything you want to know about me. So… I know that if you are a long term reader of this blog you will know that Gracie’s Dad, my husband, passed away when she was 11 and I was 41. His death led to the reason I started blogging consistently to make money from home.
At first, I really basically had Sonya’s Happenings… as an online journal. I posted when Gracie and I went to Church camp or Gracie started preschool. It went like that, as in a journal for a bit. I did a few reviews and giveaways, but I didn’t blog on a consistent basis. Life has a funny little way of altering our journey though.
When Don passed away, I had already been blogging for about 5 years. Sonya’s Happenings… had been mainly on blogger though and I had to change it to WordPress. I knew I had to start to make some money from home. I didn’t want to go back to work at the hospital because I would be low man on the totem pole. I would be put on the night shift and I couldn’t leave Gracie with someone every night. I didn’t want to start that career over. I had been a stay at home Mom for 11 years and I just didn’t want to leave Gracie in someone else’s hands. It was important for me to find a work at home job. I kept an eye on websites like the Penny Hoarder, trying to find just the right thing to do. I had a hard time with it.
Finally, I decided I need to up my blogging hobby and change it to a way to make money from home. I have followed some blog sites since I started blogging and Problogger is one of them. I ALWAYS find great information there. I had already picked up some tricks of the blogging trade but I had made SO many blogging friends. It was with their help that I was able to add codes here and there and apply to the correct affiliates to help me make the most of my time and my resources. I really wish I had found a website like Consulting.com so it could have helped me ESPECIALLY with my inbox strategy and my grammar. I needed (and still do) help with communication strategies.
I take every legitimate free blogging course I can find. I have paid for SEVERAL courses, honestly. Really though, my blogging friends were the most helpful. I still email them and ask them questions. I still have one blogging friend, Becky, that if I mess ANYTHING up, she comes to my rescue. Trust me, this happens quite frequently to me. I can really turn something completely upside down, right side up, and sideways in a heartbeat. When you decide to work at home, it really helps to have friends in that field.
I by no means make a ton of money at Sonya’s Happenings… but I do bring in some money. I appreciate each and every one of my readers. They have been SO AWESOME to me. Most of my readers have been reading Sonya’s Happenings… since Gracie was little and she just turned 18. We were recently talking about her Prom on one blog post. I have remarried and our lives are a tad bit normal now. I truly believe that blogging is a wonderful way for someone to make money from home. What would be your ideal way to make money from home?
