Gracie and I received 2 Barbie outfits Friday from Trail’s Crafts. I told you about Trail’s Crafts last week- if you missed it- check it out here. I was very impressed by the pictures and the descriptions. She has been sewing for over 18 years and designs her own outfits. But when the 2 outfits arrived in my mailbox, I was REALLY impressed.
These outfits were so pretty. My pictures can not do them justice. I don’t know how she is able to capture the Barbie outfits in her pictures at her site . I did take several and I do have a good camera, I just couldn’t get the right photo/light/coloring. So— You’ll just have to trust me. They are beautiful.
She sent an evening gown, which Gracie fell in love with. It is very detailed, you can tell that some of this is done by hand, it has to be- everything is so EXACT. The back closed by Velcro and believe it or not the Velcro met and closed. A lot of Barbie clothes that you buy at a store DOES NOT close or meet. It has ruffle on the bottom of the dress that just sets it off (especially if you have a girly girl like I have). The top of the dress perfectly covers Barbie’s body- nothing is shown. This is important to my family and I hope yours. My daughter is very modest and she won’t have anything to do with Barbie clothes that show anything that is not supposed to be shown. I really wish I could capture the intricate detail that was put in this dress because I’m really not stretching the truth.
She also sent a blouse and skirt. PURPLE- Gracie’s favorite color. Again, the pictures can not do it justice. I’m going to have to practice at this. The blouse is lined- so again- it shows nothing. It perfectly meets the skirt, which is a great length. Both close by Velcro and again- they close perfectly – no gaps at all. Gracie really liked that the blouse was sleeveless because she likes to wear sleeveless clothes. She said “this is something I would wear” about the whole outfit. In the picture, the black seams do not meet, but that is not the clothing’s fault, it’s just the way we had it closed. It meets perfectly.
I know that I spent several sentences talking about modesty and how I really liked that the Barbie clothes completely closed or that the blouse MET the skirt. But store bought Barbie clothes DO NOT meet most of the time. I don’t think this sets a very good standard for our girls. We live in a society where “bellies, boobs, and cracks” are shown and I don’t want my daughter to think this is ok. I’m not a prude- but I do believe private areas are really private areas.
This is not something I have to worry about at Trail’s Crafts . I really suggest you check out Trail’s Crafts. Her prices are very reasonable and her shipping prices are very low. I can’t think of one thing about the clothes or her etsy shop that I can think of that I would change or improve.
I’m very glad that I happened across her shop. I will be posting more about Trail’s Crafts up until Blogmania. She has graciously offered to sponsor me during this event in April.
We are big Barbie lovers at my house- Anything Gracie likes I like. And we both give Trail’s Crafts a big thumbs up!
