It’s time again for Say It Again Sunday! I’m Glad Gracie’s Out For Christmas Break was first published on 12-19-12. Spring Break is in one week so I thought this would be a great post to bring up. I’m also still very thankful that Gracie belongs to such a great school, read on to find out more. The Best Kids (And Teachers) Come From Marmaduke!
It’s honestly not because I don’t want to get up early for awhile, although that is a plus. We attend a small school. I feel like Gracie is totally safe at Marmaduke. All doors are locked and you have to be buzzed in by the office. The teachers are the most caring, loving group of people you could ask for. I also sub at Marmaduke, so that helps. Regardless, with the recent shootings at Sandy Hook, I worry.
Gracie talked about the shooting all the way to school on Tuesday morning. It just broke my heart to drop her off. She talked about their class plan in case of a “lock down”. I told her to do exactly what Mrs. Judy told her to do. I reassured her that Mrs. Judy would know what to do.
I am very lucky to have a brother in law that is the resource officer at Marmaduke. I know that he has the best interest of the kids in mind too. We have the greatest principal, she treats each child as her own once they enter the school building. I have no doubt in my mind that the teachers wouldn’t take care of Gracie. It just tears me up that I have to worry about such things. It really, really bothers me that Gracie has to be worried about these things.
The thing that I remember most about what she talked about on Tuesday was “If you play dead on tv, they shoot you again to make sure you are dead.” Is this really what a ‘tween needs to be worried about? I just don’t think so! We all need prayer and lots of it. I love my life with Gracie!
