Rose Plays Julie Movie ~ Starring Ann Skelly Review & Giveaway Ends 8-12

blogger-disclosure

I watched a movie today by the name of Rose plays Julie. It stars Ann Skelly, along with Orla Brady and Aiden Gillen. I went into this movie knowing it was about an adopted child looking for her Mother. I had no idea that this film would lead me in the direction that it did.

Enter To Win Rose Play Julie

Rose Plays Julie is a film by Christine Milloy and Joe Lawlor. They were in the early development of this script during the #METOO movement. I won’t ruin the movie by saying how the film ends, but I do like how they follow a rape to the next generation.

Rose (Skelly) is a veterinary student who has been searching for her birth mother for many years. She finally tracks down Ellen (Brady) and she travels to London to meet her. When she does see her, she forces her to reveal shocking information. Ellen was raped.

During this film, I remember Rose telling Ellen – say HIS name (her birth father). When Ellen couldn’t, Rose said… can you write it??? Can you see how determined Rose was? Ellen does, in fact, write the name.

Rose is able to track her birth father (Gillen) down too. He is a successful archeologist and is able to help him in his dig. He notices Rose, who takes on the name “Julie”. I know the names are confusing. He not only notices “Julie”, but he also tries to rape “Julie”.

You will be SO surprised at how the movie Rose Plays Julie turns, I was. Honestly, I really was. It is a dark movie and if you can handle this type of content, I do believe that you will like it too. I’ve watched it twice already. Why? Because, some of the scenes confused me with the names. You’ll understand if you watch it yourself.

I think the comment that made the most impact on me was when Ellen (the mom), said – “I was someone’s daughter“. She told that to her rapist, who is Julie’s father.
