Since I’ve moved into this new home, the only pest that I think of is Gracie. Sometimes that teenager can just bug me until I’m silly. I get up incredibly early, I flipped on my light, got back into my bed and opened up my computer as I do each and every day. You’ll never guess what I saw!
I just happened to glance over by Michael’s chest and I saw a MOUSE. It is getting cold here in Arkansas and I do live close to a sale barn, but a mouse. We’ve not had one in the three years I’ve lived here. I won’t tell you how old I am (I’m OLD, ask Gracie), but I grew up in the middle of a rice field. It was normal to have mice inside the home.
I can NOT count the number of brooms I have broken chasing mice. We had the normal mice repellents out but you know, some mice would outsmart them. So, I would be chasing the fire out of them. You should have seen me. I did the same thing when I moved out on my own. I used pest repellents but pests are PESTS. A lot of brooms were bought.
After I was married to Gracie’s Dad, we lived in an older neighborhood behind a ditch. We did have mice, but I had a dog that would kill them in a heartbeat. I didn’t worry as much when Shasta was alive. Believe me, I’m terrified of mice. Well, I’m terrified of mice, snakes, frogs, slugs- you just name it. If it’s not a dog or a cat, I’m scared.
Move forward to just a few weeks ago when I saw that mouse. I was screaming for Michael. He hadn’t went to work yet and he chased it to behind the dryer. He sent me to Walmart to get mouse catchers and after he clocked off his job, he saw what I had bought and went to by some more supplies. He is not fond of mice either. We are fully prepared to catch ANY mouse at ANY corner at our house.
Now, as soon as Michael rolls out of bed he goes around to each corner to check his mouse traps. We haven’t caught one and we haven’t seen another one since the first one. He talked to the man who takes care of extermination at his work and he told him that he probably saw the first one that came in and we threw such a fit that he ran out and hasn’t come back in.
I don’t care what happened. I am just SO incredibly happy that I haven’t woke up to another mouse.
