Gracie had a birthday Sunday!

blogger-disclosure

Gracie had a birthday on Sunday and things started changing around my house. As the parent of a ‘tween, I’m used to life changes. I mean one day ‘tweens are on the go and the next they are buried in the tv. One day they are happy go lucky and the next they are down in the dumps. Gracie is 12 this year. Things are just different.

My sweet little girl is trying so hard to turn into a teenager. I’m doing my best to allow it to happen as it needs to and not too quickly.

She has started playing with her phone more. I expected this. I knew this was going to happen. No big deal here. She has been on her iPad and computer more. I’m a good parent, I’m monitoring all of these gadgets and she doesn’t do anything in private. So, please don’t think I’m just cutting her loose on technology. I’ve been preparing for these happenings…

She has been asking for over a year when she could wear “light” make-up. There are so many girls her age that have worn make-up since they were in 2nd grade. I told her she could wear very light make-up when she turned 12. Well, Sunday, she took her shower first. I was wondering why in world she wanted to shower first. She hates to get in the shower in the mornings. By the time I get out of the shower, she’s showing me her “light” make-up. She did it perfectly. It was very light, she like we had talked about. I was very proud of her.

She maybe trying her hardest to turn into a teenager, but I’m still holding on to my baby!
