If you’ve read my blog for very long at all, you know that Gracie has allergies and asthma. The poor kid is allergic to everything. When I say everything, I mean a lot. She’s allergic to anything from mold to grass. It’s hard for her year round.
Well, we had a ball game at a local school this past weekend. By the time we left the gym Friday night, she was sneezing continuously. As we made it home, she was asking for eye drops. She hates eye drops, so I knew it was bad. I pulled into Walgreen’s and bought some drops for allergies. Her poor eyes were so red and they were almost swollen shut. When she woke up the next morning, they were still red and we put the eye drops back in. She was sneezing still but we made it thru the weekend. We even made it to school on Monday.
Tuesday hit though! I could tell she was worse and that the allergies were going to win out. She couldn’t quit blowing her nose or quit sneezing. Her poor head was hurting. Her voice was deep. She was bad enough this time that she needed a shot. She also is on steroids, they just about do her in. She also has an antibiotic just in case her ear starts hurting worse or her drainage becomes darker.
She was up late last night. The steroids are so hard on her. She stayed so hot yesterday and she was so jumpy and just couldn’t sit still. They also make it where she can’t sleep (which means I don’t sleep). I feel so sorry for her.
Do you have a child with allergies or asthma? How do you handle drug side effects?
