Debt. Debt shouldn’t really be a full sentence, yet it is. Sometimes, all someone has to say is one word. Are you one of many households in the United States that are trying to take control of their finances? Debt Consolidation is just one of the many solutions for out-of-control debt.
In my past, I’ve been situations where debt collectors have been calling my phone number. It is not a fun time. Let me tell you. I was already going through the death of a spouse. Then to pile on the CALLS. They aren’t nice calls either. They will use any form of harassment possible to get their money. I’ve learned that debtors have rights too. Don’t think that the harassment is OK because it is not. One in three households has debt in collections and it’s usually about $1450. Learn your rights and find out how to get collectors from calling you.
Maybe you aren’t behind in your bills, as I was in the above situation. Maybe you just need to get to see where your money is going. You think it is going out of your checkbook as soon as it hits your bank account. First, understand where your debt is from. Maybe it’s credit cards. Next, Organize your debt. It might be helpful if you found a budget tracker (this is the one I have and use) or make one yourself. If you figure up your cash flow and set up achievable milestones. Even paying an extra $25-$50 a month on your debt will go far. Needless to say, if you are trying to pay off debt, getting rid of “extra’s” is a must.
Where Can You Go For Debt Consolidation Help
If you are wanting to take control of your finances on your own, you’ll want to learn as much as you can about debt and budgeting. One site that I follow religiously is Lifehacker Money. They have some of the best advice around. Another website that I frequent when it comes to money matters is Real Simple Money. Both of these sites are FREE and “do it yourself” budgeting.
