I really don’t have much time to read, but when I was approached about Absolutely…Positively…Genuine…Real Fake News, I had to say yes. I was really intrigued by the title itself, BUT… Michael! This sounded just like the book Michael would absolutely LOVE.
Sir Telsunn Margraves explains in the introduction that all fake news needs is some element of the truth to reverberate with viewers and readers in any format consumers consume news. I can see how this is true and I honestly believe it. You know if you get in with a group of girls (or guys) and just part of a story is given, a whole rumor has started. That rumor is told and re-told until it is just blown out of proportion.
The author hits upon several different topics including- The Trump Limbaugh Barbecue, ISIS Terrorist Checks Into Seattle Clinic, You Might Be White But You Ain’t Right, The Obama Legacy; It’s All In How You Look At It and many more.
My favorite by far is Snowflake Students Condemn Bananas And Their Peels At Ole Miss. I hadn’t heard anything about this at all prior to reading this chapter. I must say, that I don’t understand the problem at all. I guess I’ve just reached an age where this just is funny to me. I know I shouldn’t say that, because I have no idea what a banana has to do with being threatening to anyone. If I knew, then I might not find it funny. Maybe I’m sheltered, well, I am sheltered, I do know that. This banana event, according to Margraves led to several other actions and demands. You just need to read this yourself! If I’ve offended anyone by saying that I found this funny, I am truly sorry.
This is a really funny book and Sir Telsunn Margraves does give some of the exact wording in italics. He will tell you at the end of that particular chapter. I like that.
I found this book really interesting, honestly. As I said, I don’t normally do book reviews and I only accepted this one because of Michael. I couldn’t believe it was me holding him back from reading a book this time! That’s how good this book is! I do highly suggest you buy this book. It is a wonderful book, both of us really love it. Now, Gracie, you can’t get her to read anything unless it’s text these days, so she has no review, lol!
