becoming God's True Woman

Gracie and I were lucky enough to be asked to review Becoming God’s True Woman…While I Still Have A Curfew a couple of weeks ago. Becoming God’s True Woman was written by Susan Hunt and Mary A. Kassian. I’m proud of the quality time it has given us together at night time. Thank you Moody Publishing for choosing us to go thru this wonderful book!

I’m not a night owl at all but Gracie is. She compromises and does this early with me because I go BRAIN DEAD starting about 7 pm, she’s just revving up. Not really, but she’s not gearing down. So, after we eat supper, we do this devotional. It’s broken up into sections, which is great for the two of us. We do this devotional in sections, because Gracie hates to read. I don’t know why, I read to hear as a baby, read to her as a toddler. I read to her now. She’s just not into it. She makes fun of me because I love to read. We do the reading the first night. The second night, we answer the questions. I might have to remind her about what we talked about the night before, but it works for us. It also keeps the “talk” going. So, it works 🙂

On the night that we read, there are always Bible verses and explanations to each of them. There’s a story around the Bible verses. That helps with Gracie because she would get bored if it would be only Bible verses. It’s very easy for someone her age to understand, even someone like her who hates to read. We take turns reading paragraphs and answering questions if there are any for that night. We have had some great talking points each night. On the first night Cassie thanked the Lord for having a plan for her life. We talked about how God had a plan for our life too. We talked about all we had been thru since Don had passed away. We talked about how God knew Don passed away and how God had a plan for us and he was the Ultimate Daddy. What a wonderful talking moment that was for both of us. I needed that as much as she did.

On the second night of the devotional, the writing night for us, we do a little summary of what the night before was about. You can do these in one night, it’s just easier for us if we break it up because of Gracie. It might have A Time To Think, A Time To Pray, A Time To Live For God’s Glory. We have separate books but it helps for us to do these together. We just talk it out, again good talking points. We love good talking points at my house. I haven’t always been a good “talker”. Since Don has passed away, I’ve had to communicate a lot better, especially with Gracie.
